Patience-James Chapter 5

Tuesday Feb 08, 2022

Tuesday Feb 08, 2022

Some say that I pray for patience, but it takes too long. Or the old saying "hurry up and wait!".  Our lives are full of waiting. Waiting in traffic, waiting in checkout lines, waiting for Amazon two-day delivery, waiting for tax returns, waiting to lose weight while you diet, on and on. Waiting is a part of life. Others also tell us that, "only good things come to those who wait". Tell that to the person sitting on death row! Three simple principles about patience James bring out. 1. Patience is commanded, 2. Patience is Common, 3. It takes courage to be patient.

Does God Talk To Us Today?

Sunday Feb 06, 2022

Sunday Feb 06, 2022

Does God speak to us today? Does it matter? and if He does, how? God does speak to us today. He speaks in many ways to everyone Chirstian and non-Christians. Christians accept there is a God and hopefully are listening to Him through scriptures. As the Psalmist says in Psalms 19:1-41 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech;night after night they reveal knowledge. 3 They have no speech, they use no words;no sound is heard from them.4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. That speech tells us there is a God. His word in the Bible tells us about Him. Explains His expectations.

David's song of deliverance comes at the end of the book of 2nd Samuel as the writer concludes the book with non-chronological stories and events. They may seem insignificant, but each one has a propose. Chapter 22 with the David's song of deliverance is so appropriate to remind us of our struggles and that God does delivers those He loves.  I hope you will be able to gain encouragement from David's song.

James continues to express the impact of worldly wisdom. People today live like they have tomorrow. This is the way of worldly wisdom. Plan, live, eat, and enjoy without understanding tomorrow may never come. So many are caught up in making plans, living for tomorrow. Tomorrow is always going to be better, right? I can just make it through today tomorrow I will be able to fix my problems, secure my future. These thoughts are dangerous James says because our life is but a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow. Knowing that and believing it should cause us to focus on eternal treasures. Paul in departing to Ephesus told them he would return to them "if God wills". James says instead of depending our will we should depend on God's will.

Overcoming Negativity

Sunday Jan 30, 2022

Sunday Jan 30, 2022

Negativity is an attitude that is not hopeful or enthusiastic. This is not an attitude Christians should have, it’s the opposite. Note that is an “attitude”.  Which means we can change it. Negativity is a vicious cycle that we must learn to control. Our mental and physical health can be severely impacted. Overcoming negativity is impossible without God. The world around seems to thrive on negativity. It’s a power tool Satan uses against us.

Acts Chapter 17

Friday Jan 28, 2022

Friday Jan 28, 2022

Continuing on Paul's second missionary journey he travels to Thessalonica where he has sucess but is driven out of town. Paul and Silas travel to Beroea where people were more reasonable and considered what Paul was teaching. Paul reasoned with people, not debated/argued, but first tried to reason with them.  He had to prove first to the Jews that the Christ that they were waiting for would have to suffer and the one named Jesus was the Christ.

”Until You Can’t”

Sunday Jan 23, 2022

Sunday Jan 23, 2022

There is a song named “Until You Can’t”. It hits home when you consider all the things that we should have done and didn’t. Everyone must live with the now I can’t problem. Now, today I can’t do those things I was wanting to do.  This lesson looks at some important points about some things we still can…. But someday we “can’t”.

Results of Worldly Wisdom

Sunday Jan 23, 2022

Sunday Jan 23, 2022

There are two sources of wisdom, from God or man. Wisdom is the ability to contemplate and act using knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense and insight. The different source of wisdom can be seen in the results it produces. Wisdom from God produces "...wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. 18 And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." (James 3:17-18) Earthly wisdom, James says produces, " bitter jealousy and selfish ambition...jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. James 3:14-16 So, we can use that as a standard to evaluate what we witness in people's behavior. James next shows how this can be seen in our treatment and interactions with each other. We should evaluate the results our behavior and see the type of wisdom we are using by the results we produce.

Welcome to Our Quest for God's Truth

Searching for the church shaped by scripture podcast focusing on examining the New Testament to find the church that Jesus established and guided by the Holy Spirit through people. Every Friday at 10:00 am on YouTube and Facebook we will be live streaming.

In today’s world we need more truth concerning how to become a disciple of Christ. The world needs more Christ like people NOT self-serving religious so-called Christians.

God’s word/ Bible is NOT Complicated. The first Christians did not need a higher level of intelligence or education to understand the Gospel. What they needed is a sincere love for God.

The book of acts and the letters in the New Testament provide us examples and clear authority for everything we should be doing today in the church Jesus established, anything else is not a church of which He would approve.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Everyone should be honest enough to examine our faith/knowledge to insure we are pleasing Him. After all our eternal destiny will be determined by pleasing God, not man. You will not be by denominations’ of churches, but individually before God. You will not be able to tell God, “well, that’s what my pastor taught and that’s what I did.” There is a beauty about the Gospel that each person must genuinely desire to find God. That is what we read about in the gospels. When Jesus was alive it was the humble, broken spirit that was drawn to him. Others who thought they were spiritual were attracted to him for the wrong reasons and walked away either disappointed or angry.

one most Sobering teaching of Jessus in in Matthew 7:21-27

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Build Your House on the Rock

24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

I know that if we listen to Jesus’ words will too be the wise man whose house can withstand the storms in this life AND gain an eternal home in heaven, where there will be no more tears, nor the sorrows of this world.

So, Join us in our quest to grow in the Truth of God’s Word and Make it a real part of who we are.
