Rebellion of Sheba 2 Samuel 20

Thursday Jan 13, 2022

Thursday Jan 13, 2022

The aftershocks of Absalom's rebellion continue. No sooner after the tribes accept David back, they start arguing about who is more prominent to the King. This leads to the opening for a rebel to take the opportunity to cause more division which will lead them back into a civil war. During this we see the back-channel politics of Joab, who after being removed as David's military commander plots unfold to reclaim his position.

What Do You See?

Wednesday Jan 12, 2022

Wednesday Jan 12, 2022

We are influenced by our perceptions. When we look at the same picture as others, we don't always see the same thing. Spiritually we also are influenced by our perceptions of God and what God expects of us. God sees all people as His children. But, what do you see? Angry, hateful people? Do we hold back our duty as Christians to LOVE as God loves because people are different from us? Even people who are hostile toward our faith in God?

Rebellious Aftermath

Thursday Jan 06, 2022

Thursday Jan 06, 2022

After the Absalom's attempted coupe David now has to deal with the aftermath.  David has yet to return to Jerusalem after the death of Absalom. Joab had just rebuked David for "caring more for Absalom" than his loyal servants who risked everything for him. Now David has to reconcile and heal the nation. So, what do you do with your enemies who demonstrated treason and even attacked him? The decisions David makes are so unwise if you are a monarch and want to ensure your dynasty survives.  There are many lessons for us about forgiveness.

Wednesday Jan 05, 2022

There are important dates in our lives, but the most important ones are the date of our birth and the date of our death. How we live between those dates will determine our eternal destiny. In this lesson Gene discusses what was important to God. Many today focus on the religious actions, ceremonies and obedience as the only way we can please God.

Welcome to Our Quest for God's Truth

Searching for the church shaped by scripture podcast focusing on examining the New Testament to find the church that Jesus established and guided by the Holy Spirit through people. Every Friday at 10:00 am on YouTube and Facebook we will be live streaming.

In today’s world we need more truth concerning how to become a disciple of Christ. The world needs more Christ like people NOT self-serving religious so-called Christians.

God’s word/ Bible is NOT Complicated. The first Christians did not need a higher level of intelligence or education to understand the Gospel. What they needed is a sincere love for God.

The book of acts and the letters in the New Testament provide us examples and clear authority for everything we should be doing today in the church Jesus established, anything else is not a church of which He would approve.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Everyone should be honest enough to examine our faith/knowledge to insure we are pleasing Him. After all our eternal destiny will be determined by pleasing God, not man. You will not be by denominations’ of churches, but individually before God. You will not be able to tell God, “well, that’s what my pastor taught and that’s what I did.” There is a beauty about the Gospel that each person must genuinely desire to find God. That is what we read about in the gospels. When Jesus was alive it was the humble, broken spirit that was drawn to him. Others who thought they were spiritual were attracted to him for the wrong reasons and walked away either disappointed or angry.

one most Sobering teaching of Jessus in in Matthew 7:21-27

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Build Your House on the Rock

24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

I know that if we listen to Jesus’ words will too be the wise man whose house can withstand the storms in this life AND gain an eternal home in heaven, where there will be no more tears, nor the sorrows of this world.

So, Join us in our quest to grow in the Truth of God’s Word and Make it a real part of who we are.
