This is a great lesson about the importance of doing or practicing what we hear, not just listen to God's word and do nothing. As James progresses through this wonderful letter, he now addresses the problem of Christians who just listen to God's word and never do anything. If we as Christians are to grow into the image of Christ and serve Him, we must learn the lesson of practicing what we hear from God's word. If we want to be a guide to help others see God, we must reflect in our lives His image.

Absalom is one of the most renown bad boys in the Bible. It's easy to just blame him, but his father David has some responsibility in the rebellion. I'm not letting Absalom off the hook; he always had a choice regardless of the environment in which he grew up. As parents and children, we must learn the lessons that come from the consequences of broken relationships. David and Absalom are a reflection of so many fathers and sons today and are suffering the same consequences.

As Paul begins his second Missionary journey we see the influence and guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit directs Paul what areas to go to and where to stay away from. He has a vision of a Macedonian man who asks Paul to come and help them. We also see the conversion of Lydia and next time we will look at the conversion of the Philippian jailor.

Searching for the church shaped by scripture podcast focusing on examining the scriptures to find the church established by the Holy Spirit inspired Apostles. God’s word is NOT Complicated. The first Christians did not need a higher level of education to understand the Gospel. What they needed is a sincere love for God. Scripture provides us clear authority for everything we should be doing today in the church Jesus established, anything else is not a church of which He would approve.

Welcome to Our Quest for God's Truth
Searching for the church shaped by scripture podcast focusing on examining the New Testament to find the church that Jesus established and guided by the Holy Spirit through people. Every Friday at 10:00 am on YouTube and Facebook we will be live streaming.
In today’s world we need more truth concerning how to become a disciple of Christ. The world needs more Christ like people NOT self-serving religious so-called Christians.
God’s word/ Bible is NOT Complicated. The first Christians did not need a higher level of intelligence or education to understand the Gospel. What they needed is a sincere love for God.
The book of acts and the letters in the New Testament provide us examples and clear authority for everything we should be doing today in the church Jesus established, anything else is not a church of which He would approve.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Everyone should be honest enough to examine our faith/knowledge to insure we are pleasing Him. After all our eternal destiny will be determined by pleasing God, not man. You will not be by denominations’ of churches, but individually before God. You will not be able to tell God, “well, that’s what my pastor taught and that’s what I did.” There is a beauty about the Gospel that each person must genuinely desire to find God. That is what we read about in the gospels. When Jesus was alive it was the humble, broken spirit that was drawn to him. Others who thought they were spiritual were attracted to him for the wrong reasons and walked away either disappointed or angry.
one most Sobering teaching of Jessus in in Matthew 7:21-27
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Build Your House on the Rock
24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
I know that if we listen to Jesus’ words will too be the wise man whose house can withstand the storms in this life AND gain an eternal home in heaven, where there will be no more tears, nor the sorrows of this world.
So, Join us in our quest to grow in the Truth of God’s Word and Make it a real part of who we are.
